Amaravati set as Andhra capital, ends ‘3-capitals’ debate: Chandrababu Naidu

Telugu Desam Party leader N Chandrababu Naidu declared on Tuesday that Amaravati would serve as the state capital, one day before he was sworn in as chief minister of Andhra Pradesh.

Just a Brief Summary

  1. To take office as Andhra Chief Minister is Chandrababu Naidu.
  2. The capital of Andhra Pradesh, according to Naidu, would be Amaravati.
  3. As the legislative capital in 2019, Jagan Reddy suggested Amaravati.

Just one day before he was sworn in as the state chief minister, Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu declared that Amaravati will be the capital of Andhra Pradesh. Together with vowing to finish the Polavaram Project, Naidu declared that Amaravati would be the only capital of Andhra Pradesh.

Visakhapatnam would grow into an advanced special city and the nation’s economic hub, he continued.

“We’ll make Amaravati our capital. Rather of engaging in revenge politics, we shall embrace constructive politics. The state’s commercial capital is going to be Visakhapatnam. We will not engage in nefarious games or competitions with individuals, such as attempting to control three capitals. A complete mandate was granted by Visakhapatnam. “Rayalaseema will be developed in order to give us a clear mandate,” Chandrababu Naidu declared.

The statement was made by Chandrababu Naidu at the NDA Legislative Party conference in Vijayawada, when he was unanimously chosen to lead the alliance’s House of Representatives.

The head of the Jana Sena Party, K Pawan Kalyan, put out his nomination; freshly elected MP D Purandeswari and state president of the BJP endorsed this.

After the TDP won 164 assembly seats and 21 Lok Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh with an overwhelming majority, propelling Naidu to a kingmaker role in national politics, Amaravati is once again in the spotlight.

With the concept of decentralized development in the state, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy guided the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) to a resounding win in 2019. Reddy had declared that he would establish Visakhapatnam as the administrative center and administer oaths there.

In December 2019, a proposal for three capitals was presented by the YSRCP government. Kurnool was proposed as the judicial capital, Visakhapatnam as the executive capital, and Amaravati as the legislative capital.

The administration of the YSRCP was ordered by the Andhra Pradesh High Court to develop Amaravati as the state capital in March 2022. The government contested this ruling in the Supreme Court, where it is still pending.

Naidu pledged to revitalize Amaravati development during his election campaign.

In an attempt to assert their claim to form the government, Jana Sena leader Pawan Kalyan and Chandrababu Naidu arrived at Raj Bhavan in Vijayawada today.

Arriving a day early, Amit Shah is seeing Chandrababu at his Vundavalli mansion at 10 pm on Tuesday in preparation for his swearing-in ceremony on Wednesday.
