Arvind Kejriwal's bail extension request in the liquor policy case is not given an expedited hearing by the Supreme Court

Arvind Kejriwal’s bail extension request in the liquor policy case is not given an expedited hearing by the Supreme Court

Tuesday, May 28, saw the rejection of an urgent hearing of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal request for a seven-day extension of interim bail in relation to the money laundering case involving the Delhi Liquor Policy by the Supreme Court’s vacation bench, which is made up of Justices JK Maheshwari and KV Viswanathan.

When the case was being heard by Justice Dipankar Datta, the main bench judge, last week, the top court questioned Senior Advocate Abhishek Singhvi, who was representing the chief minister, on why the Delhi CM’s plea had not been brought up.

The verdict is reserved, and the subject has already been heard, according to the vacation bench, according to Live Law. The Chief Justice of India was then ordered to hear the case in order to make an acceptable ruling by the supreme court.

Under investigation by the Enforcement Directorate, the Delhi Chief Minister requested on Tuesday an expedited listing of his petition before the Supreme Court. On the basis of his health, his application requested a seven-day temporary bail extension.

Arvind Kejriwal had requested a seven-day extension of his provisional bail so that he could have a PET-CT scan and other tests because of his “sudden and unexplained weight loss along with elevated ketone levels,” which could indicate a serious kidney problem, a severe cardiac ailment, or even cancer. The chief minister stated in his new plea submitted on May 26 that he will turn himself in to jail officials on June 9 rather than June 2.

On May 10, the Supreme Court gave Arvind Kejriwal a 21-day temporary release so he could run in the Lok Sabha elections. On June 2, one day after the final round of the seven-phase poll ends, the chief justice ordered the CM to turn himself in.

Delhi Chief Minister is accused of money laundering and corruption in the excise policy scandal. The accusations concern the creation and implementation of the excise policy for 2021–2022 that the Delhi government has since rejected.
