Chandrababu Naidu's Relief, With the Conversion of Interim Bail

Chandrababu Naidu’s Relief, With the Conversion of Interim Bail to Regular Bail.

The Andhra Pradesh High Court granted regular bail to Telugu Desam Party leader Chandrababu Naidu in relation to the ₹ 371 crore Skill Development Corporation scam case.

After being detained for more than two months, the former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh was granted temporary medical bail last month so that he could undergo cataract surgery on his right eye.

As previously mandated, Mr. Naidu will not be required to return to jail on November 28.

Preliminarily, Mr. Naidu was also cleared to engage in political activity. The election in neighboring Telangana, which is scheduled to vote on November 30, is scheduled for this weekend, but this approval comes too late.

Yet, Mr. Naidu is probably going to speak out against his opponents, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, who are currently in power, as well as about his arrest, which was sharply contested by his party’s cadre, supporters, and family.

“When I was in trouble, you took to the streets and prayed for me,” he had said upon being released on medical bail. Not just in Andhra Pradesh, but also in Telangana and around the world, I will always remember this.”

Mr. Naidu was still incarcerated last month, so the TDP decided not to participate in the Telangana election.

After a meeting between Mr. Naidu, who was incarcerated at Rajahmundry Central Jail, and Kasani Gnaneswar, the state president of the TDP, the decision was made, a senior party leader told NDTV.

According to reports, the leader of the TDP stated that if he is incarcerated, it might be impossible for the leadership to campaign in Telangana, so Mr. Gnaneswar needs to clarify these circumstances to the cadre.

Due to some support in Telangana, the TDP was able to win two seats in the 2018 Assembly election and fifteen seats in the 2014 Assembly election. The elected MLAs, however, eventually turned their allegiance to the ruling party.

Supporters of Mr. Naidu from Telangana are angry with the BRS because it did not denounce his arrest and because they were denied permission to stage a demonstration in the Hitech City neighborhood in his honor.

Following Mr. Naidu’s arrest last month, there were violent altercations and political unrest. Party chiefs denounced the government of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy for engaging in a “witch hunt”.

Nara Lokesh, his son, told NDTV that “I should call for a civil war” in order to expose the “corrupt” YSR Congress Party, which is in power in Andhra Pradesh, and to get his father’s release.
On December 3, the Telangana election results will be announced.
