Excise policy case:Arvind Kejriwal’s ED custody extended till April 1

Excise policy case: In a case involving an alleged excise policy, Delhi’s Rouse Avenue court on Thursday, March 28 extended the Enforcement Directorate’s custody of Chief Minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal by four days, until April 1.

The AAP chief was to be placed under seven days of custody, according to the probing agency, but Special Judge Kaveri Baweja ordered that he appear in court on April 1 at 11 a.m.

On March 21, Kejriwal was taken into custody by the investigation agency in relation to a purported money laundering case involving excise laws.

On Thursday, the Delhi CM’s investigating agency, the ED, filed a remand application, claiming they need more time to question him and confront him with other individuals. “AAP Goa candidates’ statements are being recorded,” the ED informed the court.

Kejriwal provided evasive answers, but ASG SV Raju, who is assisting the ED, stated that his statements have been recorded. According to ANI, ASG stated, “He is purposefully not cooperating with us.”

While defending himself, Kejriwal claimed that the country has been presented with a smokescreen accusing the AAP of corruption.

Four witnesses in the excise policy case have named me. Is it sufficient to arrest a sitting CM with four statements? He went on.

“It is a political conspiracy and the people will give an answer to it,” the CM declared earlier as he was being led to the Rouse Avenue courtroom at the conclusion of his ED custody.

A PIL calling for Kejriwal’s dismissal as Delhi Chief Minister was earlier today dismissed by the Delhi High Court. The Executive makes the final decision; there is no legal requirement to remove him, according to Bar and Bench.

Earlier, Sunita, Kejriwal’s wife, had declared that her husband would disclose the case’s truth in court on March 28.

“Over 250 raids have been carried out by ED in connection with the alleged liquor scheme. The money from this alleged scam is what they are looking for. As of yet, they have not discovered anything. I will disclose everything in court on March 28, according to Arvind Kejriwal. He’ll disclose where the liquor scam’s money is hidden. Additionally, he will offer evidence,” she had stated.
