HDFC Bank: The bank has informed customers that they would not be able to use its website, mobile app, or ATMs for access to all of its services.

On July 13, 2024, HDFC Bank will do a system upgrade that will last thirteen and a half hours. Customers’ access to specific services would be restricted during this period, according to the private lender.

HDFC Bank: Why Was There A Downtime?

The bank is moving its Core Banking System (CBS) to a newly designed platform in an effort to improve the customer experience for its 93 million consumer and business customers nationwide. According to a statement from HDFC Bank, “This migration aims to improve performance speed, increase capacity to manage high traffic volumes, and enhance reliability and scalability.”

Today’s scheduled upgrade for the bank started at 3 a.m. and will end at 4:30 p.m.

Social media has already being used by customers to voice their displeasure regarding the extended outage.

What’s Affected?

  • UPI: available starting at 12:45 p.m.
  • Additional Mobile Banking and NetBanking Services: Not accessible until 4:30 PM on this day.
  • Cash withdrawals (credit and debit cards) are limited to a set amount at any ATM.
  • Purchase payments (Debit, Credit, UPI): Online and swipe machine transactions are restricted.
  • Payment of Bills: Throughout the upgrade, you won’t be able to view or add new billers.
  • Cards, Loans, and Demat: Seeing services only.
  • Mutual funds: switching, viewing, redemptions, and questions.
  • WealthFy Reports: Methodical section management and risk profile.
  • Account Balance: As of Friday, July 12, 2024, at 7:30 PM, the amount was last displayed.
  • Card Management: PIN resets, hotlisting cards, and other card-related operations are still in place.
  • Merchant Payments: Once the upgrade is finished, merchants will be able to accept card payments; however, updates for the payments made the day before will not be accessible.

July 13 is a bank holiday.

The State Bank of India (SBI) and all other nationalized and private banks in India will be closed today, July 13, due to the fact that it is the second Saturday of the month. Additionally, July 27 is a bank holiday since it is the fourth Saturday; July 14, 21, and 28 are Sunday weekend holidays.

In total, there are at least 12 designated non-working days for banks in July 2024 due to weekends, religious holidays, and local events. Aside from this, the second and fourth Saturdays of every month as well as every Sunday are off.
