IPL 2024 prize money and awards: The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) won the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the third time when the 2024 season came to an end on Sunday. In the championship game played at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium, KKR, captained by Shreyas Iyer, defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), led by Pat Cummins. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, the openers for SRH, had been brilliant in the first half of the season, but it wasn’t meant to be. With Cummins scoring the most with 24, SRH fell to 113 in 18.3 overs on Sunday.
KKR responded with a spectacular display from Venkatesh Iyer (52*) and Rahmanullah Gurbaz (39), leading them home and giving them their first trophy in ten years (they previously won it in 2014).
The presentation ceremony held after the game featured a number of individual and team honors. The IPL winners’ trophy was hoisted by KKR, while SRH was given the runners-up money and medals.
The Orange Cap went to RCB’s Virat Kohli (741 runs), while the Purple Cap went to PBKS’s Harshal Patel (24 wickets). The Emerging Player of the Season was went to Nitish Kumar Reddy, a 21-year-old who scored 303 runs this season, including two fifties.
