Jagan Mohan Reddy resigns as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, submits a resignation letter to the governor

Tuesday saw the resignation of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy due to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA)’s overwhelming victory in the Assembly elections.

According to the YSR Congress Party, Jagan Mohan Reddy submitted his resignation to Governor S. Abdul Nazeer on Tuesday.

Until his replacement takes the oath of office, the Governor may request that he serve as interim Chief Minister.

Shortly after giving a press conference, Jagan Mohan Reddy submitted his resignation. He said that the party was not expecting the outcome.

He questioned why, in spite of enacting several welfare programmes that benefited millions of people, the YSR Congress was defeated.

Jagan Mohan Reddy, giving in to defeat, promised to rise bravely from his defeat and stated that his party would keep fighting for the people’s rights.

He sent his warmest wishes for the new government.

The TDP, Jana Sena, and BJP coalition was ahead in 57 seats and had gained 106 seats, therefore a landslide victory was imminent.

In 21 of the 25 Lok Sabha seats, the tripartite alliance was also in the lead.

Only three Assembly seats have been gained by the YSRCP, despite leading in eight segments. In four Lok Sabha seats, it was ahead as well.

YSRCP secured 151 Assembly seats and 22 Lok Sabha seats in 2019.
