JSW Vijayanagar Metallics commissions a five MTPA hot strip mill in Vijayanagar

With a capacity of 5 MTPA, JSW Steel’s fully owned subsidiary JSW Vijayanagar Metallics Ltd. has commissioned its Hot Strip Mill (HSM) at its integrated steel facility in Vijayanagar and has made its first dispatch, the company announced on Saturday.

(JVML), a wholly-owned subsidiary of ours, has made its first dispatch and successfully commissioned its Hot Strip Mill (HSM) at its integrated steel plant in Vijayanagar with a capacity of 5 MTPA today,” the company stated in a regulatory filing.

According to JSW Steel, the HSM facility is capable of producing plates and coils and is outfitted with cutting-edge features like evaporative cooling systems, waste heat recovery systems, digital reheating furnaces, attached edgers in finishing mills for precise width control, auto steering control, uniform mechanical properties, and the creation of superior value-added grades.

Commencing with commercial manufacturing and sales, the HSM facility was lit up on March 17, 2024, following the conclusion of trial runs and quality and delivery testing.

A profit of Rs 2415 crore for the third quarter of FY23 was announced by JSW Steel earlier in January, representing a 392.9% increase from Rs 490 crore in the same period the previous year. With operating revenue of Rs 41,940 crore, it reported a 7.2% increase over the Rs 39,134 crore it reported in the same quarter last year.
