India’s bloc leader, Mallikarjun Kharge, is named, but Nitish declines the convener post:

The Opposition-led INDIA bloc named Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge as its chairperson on Saturday, sources informed India Today, following a series of meetings and discussions. On the other hand, an official statement on the subject is still pending-Mallikarjun Kharge

This development occurs after leaders of the INDIA bloc convened virtually earlier today to discuss issues pertaining to the alliance, including participation in the “Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra,” and the agenda item for seat-sharing.

Concurrently, the assembled leaders resolved to designate Nitish Kumar as the bloc’s convener. Nitish Kumar’s party, however, claimed he wasn’t looking for a job. According to reports, the chief minister of Bihar rejected the idea, stating that the Congress should be the ones to take on the role.

Following a conversation with Samajwadi Party chairman Akhilesh Yadav, West Bengal chairman Minister Mamata Banerjee, and leaders of other parties who were not present at the meeting, a final decision on the convener role will be made.

At a meeting on Friday, Kharge encouraged the party’s Lok Sabha coordinators from various states to strengthen their ties to the populace.

The second meeting was for coordinators from Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Chandigarh, Jammu-Kashmir, and Ladakh, while the first meeting was for representatives from Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Delhi, Goa, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Daman and Diu.

Kharge had earlier on Thursday met with the coordinators of the Lok Sabha from various states.

The party has selected coordinators for all Lok Sabha constituencies in a bid to coordinate the efforts being made across the country ahead of the polls.
