Modi 3.0 Appoints 72 Ministers and Adds 9 New Members to the Cabinet

Modi 3.0: Along with 71 other members of the new coalition government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the oath of office today. There are thirty Cabinet Ministers, five independent commissioners, and thirty state ministers. We’ll make the portfolios public later.

After ten years of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) leadership, Prime Minister Modi, 73, won a massive “Brand Modi” victory in 2014 and will lead a coalition government for the first time in his third term, or Modi 3.0.

He is the second prime minister to be elected to a third consecutive term, following Jawaharlal Nehru.

In the nation’s capital, where the swearing ceremony is being held on the lawns of Rashtrapati Bhavan, the weather office is forecasting a high temperature of 42 degrees Celsius.

To PM Modi, President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath. After him, Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh took an oath. The President gave the oath of office to Nitin Gadkari, the fourth leader to do so. Manohar Lal Khattar, JP Nadda, S Jaishankar, Nirmala Sitharaman, and Shivraj Singh Chouhan were the next to take an oath.

The first leader to take the oath of office from among the BJP’s allies in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) was HD Kumaraswamy of the Janata Dal (Secular), who did so following Mr. Khattar. Lalan Singh, the head of the Janata Dal (United) and a close adviser to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, too took an oath shortly after.

The first leader from the northeast to take an oath of office today was Sarbananda Sonowal, followed by Kiren Rijiju.

Virendra Kumar, an eight-time MP and well-known BJP representative from the Scheduled Castes, was inaugurated into the Narendra Modi administration. From the reserved seat of Tikamgarh in Madhya Pradesh, he won the election.

As their leaders approached the microphone to take an oath from the President, the supporters of the leaders who had been called to the platform applauded and applauded enthusiastically.

With the start of his second term in the Union cabinet, Jyotiraditya Scindia’s appointment to the Modi 3.0 council of ministers has solidified his significance inside the BJP since he abandoned the Congress four years ago.

Among the ministers sworn in today was veteran diplomat Hardeep Singh Puri, who assisted India in navigating through two consecutive oil crises.

Chirag Paswan, the leader of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), has cemented his place as the “genuine” political successor to his father, Ram Vilas Paswan, following his induction into the Narendra Modi administration today. In Bihar’s unstable political environment, this marks Chirag Paswan’s incredible return.

Leaders from neighboring countries and the Indian Ocean Region, such as Sri Lanka’s President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Maldives’ President Mohamed Muizzu, and Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, were present.
