PM chairs CEC meet: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is holding its Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting at its national capital headquarters.

Party President JP Nadda is in attendance at the meeting, as is Union Home Minister Amit Shah, as well as representatives and chief ministers from sixteen states.
A warm welcome was extended to Prime Minister Narendra Modi by BJP chief JP Nadda upon his arrival at the party headquarters on Thursday evening for the BJP CEC meeting.
The chief ministers of Goa, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, Yogi Adityanath, and Bhajan Lal Sharma, were also present at the meeting.
Arriving at the BJP headquarters in Delhi for the meeting were KP Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, the deputy chief minister of Uttar Pradesh.

Present for today’s CEC meeting are the chief ministers and representatives of sixteen states: Telangana, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Assam, Bengal, Tripura, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, Goa, Daman and Diu, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh.
Over the next few days, the party is anticipated to reveal over 100 names. According to sources, the names of prominent party figures, such as Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, are probably going to be on the first list.
Initially, the party might concentrate on states it is independently contesting. A few seats that the BJP lost in the 2019 Lok Sabha election may also be on the first list.
According to sources, the BJP has considered candidates for the 14 Lok Sabha seats that it lost in Uttar Pradesh in 2019. Approximately 40 names from the state’s crucial election could be on the first list.
Some seats in the Awadh and Purvanchal regions of the state, as well as all names in western Uttar Pradesh, might be included in the first list.
As per the sources, the central leadership of Madhya Pradesh received recommendations from the state unit that included names of notable leaders like Kailash Vijayvargiya and Narottam Mishra, senior party functionaries, and former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.
There may be fifteen names on the initial Rajasthan list, according to sources, some of whom are well-known leaders. Some senior party officials and functionaries are also anticipated to be on the Odisha list.
