Ramulamma Leaves BJP to Join Congress!

Actress Vijayashanthi, also known as Ramulamma, has left the BJP, dealing a serious blow to the party just two weeks before the Telangana Assembly elections on November 30. G Kishan Reddy, the state chief of the BJP, received a resignation letter from Vijayashanthi. Furthermore, in the BJP’s final list, Vijayashanthi did not receive a seat. Vijayashanthi wasn’t active in the party, according to the BJP, which is why she didn’t receive an MLA ticket. Shanthi has made the decision to depart from the party in light of the ticket denial. It is expected that Vijayashanthi will join the Congress party on Friday in Rahul Gandhi’s presence.

In less than a month, Vijayashanthi(Ramulamma) has become the fourth prominent figure to quit the BJP, following the departure of former MPs Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, G Vivekanand, & Enugu Ravinder. Vivekanand and Rajagopal Reddy have already joined the Congress.

Vijayashanthi’s political career has taken many detours. She joined the BJP in 1997 & served as its women’s wing’s general secretary at first. But in 2005, she broke away from the BJP to start her own group, Talli Telangana, which promoted Telangana’s independence. Subsequently, she amalgamated Talli Telangana with TRS, presently recognized as BRS, and secured a seat in the Lok Sabha for Medak in 2009.

When the TRS (now BRS) suspended Vijayashanthi in 2013 for suspected anti-party activities, he briefly joined the Congress and ran an unsuccessful campaign in the 2014 elections from the Medak Assembly seat. She returned to the political scene in 2017 after a spell of comparatively inactivity, but in 2020 she rejoined the BJP.

With Mahesh Babu’s “Sarileru Neekevvaru” in 2020, Vijayashanthi returned to the film industry after a 13-year break to concentrate on her political career. Vijayashanthi, though, didn’t get any big roles after that. She has resumed her political activism.
