Sanju Samson should play all T20Is:  has huge plans for an India star’s Zimbabwe series

IND vs. ZIM: According to former Indian cricketer Saba Karim, Sanju Samson would have a significant opportunity to prove himself in India’s T20I International Series against Zimbabwe. Samson, a wicketkeeper-batter, was included in India’s roster for the 2024 T20 World Cup, however he did not play in any matches.

Former Indian cricketer Saba Karim believes that Sanju Samson needs to win this T20I series against Zimbabwe to guarantee his spot in the team for the foreseeable future. Samson has the right skill set, in Karim’s opinion, to play in every T20I match for India in the present lineup, both as a batsman and a wicketkeeper. Despite being included in India’s squad that won the 2024 T20 World Cup, Samson, 29, did not play in any of the matches.

With Rishabh Pant returning to action following a protracted injury, and in very good form too, the Indian T20I team has witnessed significant progress. But in an extremely productive Indian Premier League (IPL) season as RR’s captain, Samson has also displayed some incredible toughness with the bat and with the gloves behind the stumps. Samson’s long-awaited call-up to the Indian national team for the T20 World Cup was the subject of growing speculation, but captain Rohit Sharma stuck with Pant for the competition.

Observing a critical Zimbabwe series for Samson, Saba Karim hinted in an interview with Sony Sports that the selectors would attempt to play him at number three.

“I believe so. Since I believe he should play all five T20I internationals in this series, if he is available, especially match number three. Since he has performed best in that type of environment and where he wants to be. It should be interesting to observe if it presents the pickers with more possibilities in the future. The Zimbabwe Series will mark the start of the change for Indian cricket, and many new players will be eager to establish themselves in the team, even if it means taking the wicket keeper position. Thus, I am aware that the selectors have given the number three a tryout,” Karim remarked.

IND versus.ZIM , T20I series: XI forecast

In some areas, he has performed well. At that figure, he might earn additional chances. They might want to move him back down the order, that much is certain. So, there are a lot of possibilities, but I believe that yes, given his wealth of potential, if Sanju Samson gets to play five T0Is here, he will at least have many more opportunities at that number if he plays well moving ahead. He now possesses a wealth of experience. Samson faces some significant obstacles ahead of him because he managed the RR team admirably throughout the last IPL season,” Karim continued.

After their return to the country from Barbados was postponed owing to a hurricane alert, Samson, Yashashvi Jaiswal, Rinku Singh, and Shivam Dube are still awaiting confirmation of when they would be allowed to join the rest of the India team for the Zimbabwe series. Before the series, the BCCI confirmed three changes to the lineup: fast bowler Harshit Rana, wicketkeeper batsman Jitesh Sharma, and batter Sai Sudharsan were added to the team.
