Muharram is the tenth market holiday in 2024 according to the BSE calendar. Independence Day (Thursday, August 15), Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti Holiday (Wednesday, October 02), Diwali (Friday, November 01), Gurunanak Jayanti (Friday, November 15), and Christmas (Wednesday, December 25) come next.

The Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) and the National Commodity Exchange (NCDEX) will not be open for business during the morning shift, which is from 9:00 IST to 17:00 IST. recap of the stock market

For the third day in a row, the local benchmark indices, the Sensex and the Nifty 50, concluded the day at all-time highs, maintaining their run of record-breaking gains. This resulted from purchases made in the telecom, FMCG, and information technology (IT) industries as well as inflows of foreign institutional investors (FII).

The Sensex increased 51.69 points, or 0.06%, to a new all-time high of 80,716.55. Over the course of the day, it rose by 233.44 points, or 0.28%, to hit a new high of 80,898.30.

The Nifty 50 closed at an all-time high of 24,613, up 26.30 points, or 0.11%, as it carried over its winning streak into the third day. Over the course of the day, it rose by 74.55 points, or 0.30%, to hit a new record high of 24,661.25.

Market observers attribute the optimism to the strong Wall Street signaling on Monday night, when the Dow achieved a new record high of 40351.10. However, the India VIX continued to be over 14 levels, raising more worries about volatility. However, broader markets underperformed the benchmarks since they were somewhat above the dotted lines.
