The Body Shop extends ethical beauty presence via ONDC.

The internationally acclaimed ethical beauty brand, The Body Shop, originating from the UK and dedicated to promoting social and environmental justice, has now joined the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) Network using Shopalyst’s plugin. This strategic partnership marks a distinctive collaboration between ONDC and The Body Shop, seamlessly incorporating 100% vegan product formulations and responsibly sourced Skincare, Bodycare, Haircare, and makeup into the extensive ‘Open Network.’

The Body Shop India, a prominent participant in the beauty retail industry since 2006, has 200 outlets and a wide reach over more than 15,000 pin codes via a variety of digital and e-commerce platforms. Thanks to this innovative invention, customers can easily explore and make purchases from The Body Shop’s broad product catalog on a continually growing network. It also gives customers the freedom to select from a large selection of ethical items that are accessible through any ONDC Network app, all within a single, cohesive app or website.

The Body Shop Asia South’s vice president of retail and operations, Vishal Chaturvedi, stated, “We are excited to be among the first foreign beauty and skincare companies in India to join the ONDC Network. We as a brand that constantly aims to innovate and disrupt the market think that joining the ONDC Network is a smart move. We can reach a wider audience through ONDC, guaranteeing simple accessibility for customers across the country and offering them an excellent experience at a reasonable cost.”

This move is strategically in line with The Body Shop’s objective to expand its reach throughout India and increase the accessibility of vegan, ethical, and ecological beauty goods for a larger consumer base. The Body Shop wants to improve and streamline everyone’s shopping experience by implementing the ONDC Protocol and creating numerous consumer touchpoints.
