The chief minister of Andhra Pradesh places the foundation stone.

The chief minister of Andhra Pradesh places the foundation stone for the Rs 340 crore Varikapudisela lift irrigation project.

Y S Jagan, the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, laid the foundation stone for the Rs 340 crore Varikapudisela lift irrigation project on November 15 at Macherla in the Palnadu District of Andhra Pradesh. In addition to providing drinking water for one lakh people, the project intends to irrigate 1.25 lakh acres of land in the Palnadu district, according to the chief minister.

Speaking at a public meeting, Reddy said, “We have started the work after securing essential approvals from the Central Forest and Environment Departments for the Varikapudisela lift irrigation project, which costs Rs 340 crore.”

The chief minister noted that the Macherla region has been neglected for decades despite the Nagarjuna Sagar Project’s proximity. He also claimed that previous chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu had set the groundwork for this project without obtaining the required approvals before the 2019 elections.

The state government will provide drinking water to 20,000 people and supply 281 cusecs of water through four pumps as part of the Varikapudisela project’s first phase.

The first phase of irrigation will cover up to 24,900 acres, which will cover seven villages in the Palnadu district’s Veldurthi Mandal.

In order to provide 80,000 people with drinking water, the project’s second phase intends to irrigate more than one lakh acres of land.

It is anticipated that the Varikapudisela project, when finished, will help 31 villages across three assembly constituencies.

In the meantime, Reddy claimed that false promises made to the people of Andhra Pradesh by Janasena leader Pawan Kalyan and Chandrababu Naidu were misleading them.

He called the joint TDP-Janasena manifesto misleading and claimed that Naidu is misleading voters with promises of 1 kg of gold and a luxury car as polls close.

The CM claimed that the political goals of these two parties are only concerned with exploiting the populace, not with assisting them.
