YS Sharmila, sister of AP CM Jagan Mohan Reddy, joins Congress.

Media sources state that YS Sharmila, the sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy, is planning to join the Congress.

In 1974, Yeduguri Sandinti Sharmila Reddy was born. She is the YSR Telangana Party’s founder and president. Ahead of this year’s general elections, deepfakes against YS Sharmila and former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan surfaced.

In a conversation with ANI regarding speculations about YS Sharmila, the Andhra Pradesh Congress president, Gidugu Rudra Raju expressed openness to individuals aligning with the Congress ideology. He stated that anyone showing respect for the party’s principles, as well as its leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, is warmly invited to join the Congress. On behalf of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee, he extended a welcome to YS Sharmila if she chooses to become a part of the party.

YS Sharmila declined to run in the Telangana Assembly elections scheduled for November 30

On November 3, YS Sharmila declined to run in the Telangana Assembly elections scheduled for November 30. She chose to back the Congress Party in order to avoid a division of votes in the polls that would have favored former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.

“As you know, Telangana State is at a critical juncture with elections to the State Assembly scheduled for the last day of this month,” Sharmila had stated. Telangana residents are furious about KCR’s misrule and are prepared to overthrow his strict government. “People have seen how Telangana’s wealth has been siphoned off due to the greed and tyranny of one family over the course of these nine and a half years,” she continued. Due to the widespread corruption of KCR and his allies, a wealthy State at the time of its founding is now heavily indebted, according to ANI.

She justified her choice not to run for elections by stating, “Various surveys and on-the-ground assessments suggest that our involvement in the Assembly elections would significantly influence the Congress’ vote share in numerous constituencies.” She elaborated, saying, “The YSR Telangana Party has chosen to forgo participation in the Telangana Assembly elections. I am willing to make the crucial decision to abstain for the greater good of the state and to prioritize the broader interests of the people,” as reported by ANI.
